How We Verify Licenses
Our badge comes from state licensing records, not from what a company says about itself.
We found this business in the state licensing database with an Active contractor license. The profile shows the license number, the name on the license, and the date we checked.
We have not matched this business to an active license yet. That does not mean it is unlicensed. It may be licensed under a different legal name, or we have not finished checking it.
Our process
1. Search the state database
We search each business by name in the official license lookup run by that state's contractor licensing agency.
2. Match it to the right business
We only mark a listing verified when the licensed business name (or its registered DBA) clearly matches the company listed and the license status is Active. Close-but-uncertain matches stay unverified until a person confirms them.
3. Record what we found, and when
Every check is logged with the license number, license type, name on file, status, and date. The date is shown on each profile so you know how current it is. We re-check listings regularly.
4. Act on problems
If a license shows as suspended, lapsed, or inactive, we remove the verified badge and review whether the listing should stay on the site.
Licensing by state
South Carolina
Licensed by the SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR), through the Contractor's Licensing Board (commercial contractors) and the Residential Builders Commission. Look up a license yourself on the South Carolina license lookup.

What the badge does not cover
- Insurance. We do not verify insurance. Ask for a current certificate of insurance before work starts.
- License classification. We confirm an active contractor license. Ask the contractor to confirm their license covers the specific work you need.
- Quality of work. A license is a minimum requirement, not a recommendation. Get more than one quote for larger jobs.
Right now 14 of the 14 companies in our directory are verified. If you run one of these businesses, send us your license number so we can verify it.
